Vow of Silence is made by ASGILAB.
The short version. Vow of Silence does not collect, store or send your personal information anywhere. Everything you write stays on your phone. There is no account, no login, and no server that holds your data.
Vow of Silence has no microphone access and never asks for it. It cannot hear whether you spoke, and it does not try to.
This is a deliberate design decision, not an oversight. A vow you keep because you are being monitored is not a vow — so the app keeps the time and you keep the promise. There is no recording, no listening, no sound analysis, and nothing on your device or anywhere else that could be used to check up on you.
During a vow you can write in the ledger, and at the end you can answer a few questions about how it went. This is the most personal material in the app, and it is treated accordingly:

When you show someone the card, they can type a reply on your phone so the conversation can carry on without you speaking. Nothing typed on the card is saved. It clears when you close the card, and it is never written to your ledger — the other person did not agree to be recorded.
Notifications. The first time you take a vow, iOS will ask whether the app may send notifications. This is used for one thing: telling you your vow is complete, and reminding you if you have set up a recurring vow. The notification is created on your phone and does not pass through any server. If you say no, everything else in the app works normally — you just have to look at the screen to see when your vow ends. You can also switch the chime off in Settings.
The app asks for no other permissions. No microphone, no camera, no photos, no contacts, no location, no health data, no calendar.
While a vow is running, the countdown appears on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. This is drawn by iOS on your device from information the app hands it directly. It uses no push notifications and no server, and the only thing shown is the time remaining and the reason you chose.
If you subscribe or buy the lifetime unlock, the purchase is handled by Apple and by RevenueCat, who manage subscriptions on our behalf.
RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier and details of the purchase itself so the app can tell that you have paid. It does not receive your name, anything you have written, or any record of the vows you have taken.
We never see, and never store, your payment details.
There are none. The app contains no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. We do not know how many times you open it, how long your vows are, whether you finish them, or what you write.
Because nothing leaves your phone, deleting the app deletes everything, including your whole archive. There is no copy anywhere else, so please be sure before you do it.
Vow of Silence is not directed at children and collects nothing from anyone.
Vow of Silence is a practice tool. It is not a medical or psychological treatment and it is not a substitute for professional care. Where the app mentions research about silence, it names the study and says what was actually measured; none of it is a claim about what will happen to you. If you are unwell, please talk to someone qualified — that conversation is worth breaking any vow for.
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it.
